Memphis Monday - Voodoo Village Edition

If  you live in Memphis long enough, someone will eventually suggest that you visit Voodoo Village. Usually that suggestion comes on a dull summer night after several beers. At least that's how it worked out for me. We were bored college students in a boozy haze looking for something to do. In other words, idiots.

So we piled into a car at 2am and headed for south Memphis. Deep south Memphis. Where bad things reputedly happened with some regularity in a cul-de-sac at the far end of Mary Angela Road. A place called Voodoo Village.

My memories are fuzzy, but I do remember that by the time we reached the end of the cul-de-sac I was ready to get the hell out of there. We all were.

The below video was shot during the day and frankly takes a lot of the mystique away. Still weird though. And I can tell you that the perspective is much different viewing these things from a car window in the deepest part of the night. Much different.
